“Anti-Microbial Resistance (AMR) is becoming a grave threat to public health and this problem extends across the globe. Drug-resistant infections kill hundreds of thousands every year across the globe and by 2050 that figure could be more than 10 million.  India has significant rates of resistance to antibiotics and, unfortunately, the use of antibiotics is not monitored systematically. With 20,000 hospitals and a huge Indian population, a systemic approach is essential to any antimicrobial stewardship effort. The Ministry of Health has taken this up as a priority and the AMR Conclave is a first step towards creating awareness.
