Initial Response to the draft IPR Policy

January 20, 2015

“A primary emphasis of Government’s draft IPR Policy seems to be on greater IPR awareness, against the backdrop of the PM’s ‘Make in India’ initiative.  We are encouraged with this inclination to project India as a forward-looking nation, with an increased focus on IPR. Another positive of the draft Policy is its recommendation to designate a specialised patent bench, in the High Courts of Bombay, Calcutta, Delhi and Madras, for speedy disposal of patent cases; as well as an IP court at the district level, depending on the number of IP cases filed.

The draft IPR Policy, as it stands, does not address several other concerns, but the Department of Industrial Policy & Promotion has invited comments on this draft and we will submit these soon. We look forward to an efficient and transparent system, which supports all the sectors that deal with intellectual property and especially the pharmaceutical industry.  We continue to believe that India needs a robust IPR environment, which fosters innovation and encourages new drug discovery, in the best interest of our patients.”jordan shoes for sale outlet china
